Wal-Mart Donates $100,000 To Replace City Trees

The Wal-Mart Foundation has donated $100,000 to help launch a tree re-planting campaign in Worcester.
The retail giant announced the grant this morning at a press conference and planting ceremony that included several local politicians, environmental groups and state Department of Conservation and Recreation staff at Clark Street School.
The foundation will donate an additional $50,000 in five $10,000 matching grants to encourage other local companies to contribute to the replanting effort.
The gift will benefit the Worcester Tree Initiative, a nonprofit group created in response to the destructive Asian Long Horned Beetle infestation that emerged in the city last summer.
