Southborough Firm To Install Large Solar Array

Southborough property management and development firm Capital Group Properties will deploy a one-megawatt photovoltaic system at a 43,000-square-foot property containing flex and R&D space, according to Solect Energy Development, the Hopkinton firm that has been hired to install the system.

The one-megawatt system at 150 Cordaville Road in Southborough will contain more than 4,000 panels installed over five acres. Solect says it will be the largest such system in the MetroWest area.

The system will cover all of the building's electricity costs and then some. Through net metering, Capital will cover common area electrical costs at some of the other buildings in its portfolio.

Bill Pietri, principal at Capital Group, said in a statement that conserving energy and protecting the environment is one of his firm's guiding principles.

Solect built a smaller, 140-kilowatt system for Capital Group last year in Acton.
