WPI Launches $200M Campaign

Worcester Polytechnic Institute is launching its largest ever fundraising campaign with the goal of raising $200 million by 2015, when the university will celebrate its 150th anniversary.

WPI said it's already raised more than half the money - $112 million—in an initial "leadership phase" of the campaign, which was approved by trustees in 2008. It said donors have made 25 gifts of $1 million or more. Nearly $55 million of the money came from alumni, with another $43 million from foundations, corporations or other organizations. The remaining $14 million came from parents and friends.

WPI plans to use $75 million of the money for scholarships and financial aid, $50 million to support faculty and academic programs, $55 million for campus facilities and $20 million as unrestricted funds.
