Worcester Art Museum Reopens Front Entrance, Announces Free Admission

The Worcester Art Museum (WAM) has reopened its main entrance on Salisbury Street, which were closed because of budget constraints.

Visitors have had to use the side entrance on Lancaster Street.

The museum and its recently installed director, Matthias Waschek, announced Wednesday that WAM had raised $94,113 in donations, well over its original goal of $60,000.

To thank the public for donations, the museum is offering free admission during July and August. There will be a free open house from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 23.

Correction: The original version of this story incorrectly stated that WAM's front entrance was closed for renovations. The entrance, which must be manned by paid staff, was closed because of budget cuts.
