Life Sciences Center Announces Open Solicitation For Capital Projects
High schools, academic and research institutions, business incubators and non-profits across Massachusetts are invited to apply for grant funding for capital projects through the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center, the quasi-public agency charged with overseeing the state's $1 billion Life Sciences Initiative.
The Life Sciences Center announced the second round of open solicitation for capital projects Friday, giving selected schools, start-ups and non-profits access to equipment and supplies they otherwise may not be able to afford.
The center has allocated up to $40 million to cover capital projects in this solicitation. It plans to invest in education and economic development projects with high potential for creating jobs and contributing to the state's life sciences industry.
"These projects create much-needed jobs in the building trades and permanent jobs in the life sciences. This open call for proposals will allow us to identify projects across the state with the most potential for job creation, scientific advancement, and enhancements (in education)," said Greg Bialecki, secretary of Housing & Economic Development and co-chair of the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center.
