Last week, Massachusetts became one of 16 states to charge sales tax on items bought by Massachusetts customers on Amazon.com. State officials believe the deal with the ecommerce giant will add nearly $37 million to state coffers by the end of June. Prior to the deal, small businesses – including retailers - had pressured the Patrick administration to get Amazon to pay up, out of fairness.
