Gov. Deval Patrick is pushing legislation that will ban non-compete clauses in employment agreements, making it easier for workers in the technology, life sciences and other industries to move to other jobs without facing potential legal action from the companies they're leaving. The proposal is similar to one in California, which bans non-competes so that technical “whiz kids,” especially those in Silicon Valley, can move from startup to startup. The Patrick administration believes banning non-competes helps boost innovation. But some companies believe these agreements help them protect their intellectual property from being stolen or copied by rivals. How do you feel about this issue? Please vote and comment.
