Last week, the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce announced a new program to help connect Central Massachusetts college students with internships, part of the chamber's mission to keep more college graduates in Central Massachusetts and allow businesses to find and develop future talent. At the same time, a labor law expert warned businesses that if they want to hire interns, they should pay them and steer clear of legal traps that could ensnare them should they bring on unpaid interns who would do the work of paid employees, whether or not they're earning college credit.
