The state's highest court has cleared the way for Massachusetts voters to decide whether to uphold the 2011 gambling expansion law, or toss it out, which could jeopardize the future of already-licensed casinos in Plainville and Springfield. Should casino opponents gather enough signatures to place the question on the ballot, the issue would be decided in November's election. Secretary of State William Galvin said the question will likely boost turnout at the polls, already expected to be high with contested races for governor and other constitutional offices. To get an idea of how much support the question will receive, here's our Flash Poll question for this week:
Do you support a repeal of the gambling expansion law that the Legislature approved and Gov. Deval Patrick signed in 2011?
