Career highlights: Recent graduate of NASA's Space Academy for Educators. Received the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association's Outstanding Flight School Award in 2013, in which AVI (formerly The Worcester Regional Flight Academy) was named among top 10 U.S. flight schools. Recognized with a key to the City of Worcester in 2013.

Community involvement: Developed aviation and aerospace outreach programs for local schools and nonprofits. Sits on advisory board of the Central Massachusetts STEM Network and Regional Science Resource Center.

Ultimate career goal: To promote the renaissance of cultural and educational interest in deep-space exploration, and earn my Ph.D in science, technology and society at MIT.

Non-relative you admire most: Richard Branson

Favorite book: “Failure Is Not An Option,” by Gene Kranz

Hidden talents: Published philosopher and classical pianist; can also read and translate ancient Greek and Latin.
