After Massachusetts and 12 other states took steps to increase their minimum wage, two major retailers – Wal-Mart and the TJX Cos. – have announced hikes in their floor wages. Wal-Mart, the nation's largest private employer, boosted its minimum wage to $9 and plans to increase that to $10 in 2016. Last week, Framingham-based TJX, the parent of clothing stories T.J. Maxx and Marshall's, that it will hike its floor wage to $9, then $10 in 2016 for U.S. store associates employed at least six months.
