Boston's attempt to host the 2024 Summer Olympics is dead. The decision to withdraw the bid came just hours after Mayor Martin J. Walsh said he would not commit to signing an agreement with the United States Olympic Committee until he knows the full financial picture of what city taxpayers would be on the hook for. Walsh's statement came amid reports that the committee wanted his and Gov. Charlie Baker's commitment to the bid, or risk having it withdrawn in favor of another U.S. city. The USOC is facing a Sept. 15 deadline for potential host cities to declare their intentions to the International Olympic Committee. Is it the right call? Please vote and comment.
Did the U.S. Olympic Committee do the right thing by withdrawing Boston's bid to host the Olympics and look elsewhere?
