Rutland solar firm completes $100M in projects

The Dudley River Solar Project in Southbridge, one of 19 solar energy projects recently completed by ZPT Energy Solutions, a joint venture between Zero-Point Development, a solar project developer based in Rutland and Pro-Tech Energy Solutions, an energy services company headquartered in New Jersey.

Rutland solar project developer Zero-Point Development and a New Jersey energy services firm have completed the construction of 31 megawatts of solar energy projects across Central and Southeast Massachusetts.

The $100-million joint venture between Zero-Point and New Jersey-based Pro-Tech Energy Solutions included solar constructions in 20 municipalities, including Charlton, Leicester, Millbury, North Brookfield, Phillipston, Southbridge, Spencer and Uxbridge.

The projects are part of the state’s Community Shared Solar program and will sell net metering credits to more than 90 cities and towns, public housing authorities, nonprofits, homeowners and businesses, the company announced Wednesday.

National Grid serves as the interconnecting utility for the projects.

Energy from the projects is expected to provide $35 million in savings to project subscribers over 25 years and offset 730,000 tons of carbon dioxide.

The project was financed by John Hancock Life Insurance Company, 38 Degrees North, LLC and Tax Equity Advisors, LLC, an investment of more than $100 million, Zero-Point said.
