Courtesy Photo Massachusetts and the Worcester area has added thousands of new jobs in November.

The Worcester-area unemployment rate remained unchanged at 3.5 percent from October to November, but it has risen 0.5 percentage points since last November.

According to the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development, there were 12,144 unemployed workers in the Worcester area last month, compared to 10.416 in November 2016.

Despite the unemployment numbers, both the labor force and employment numbers increased.

The Worcester area saw a labor force of 347,814 last month, about 1,000 more than October and about 2,000 more than November 2016.

Employment rose from 334,644 in October to 335,670 last month. In November 2016, that number was 335,383.

The office earlier this month reported the unemployment rate for the state fell to 3.6 percent last month thanks to a 7,300 rise in jobs throughout the state.

That rate marked the lowest unemployment since March.

From last November, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates an addition of 65,200 jobs in Massachusetts.
