Gardner chamber president to depart

Greater Gardner Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Jim Bellina will leave his job in the next several months due to a family illness, the chamber announced Tuesday.

Bellina joined the chamber in 2010. He will relocate to the Philadelphia area, the chamber said.

The chamber, which serves 300 members, will form a search committee to find Bellina's replacement. It did not say whether an interim replacement may be named in the meantime.

“The board is sad to see Jim leave, but wish him all the best," said Caroline Chellis of the utility company Unitil, the chair of the chamber's board of directors. "For the eight years that Jim has been with the Greater Gardner Chamber of Commerce, he has displayed professionalism, strength and a positive focus on small businesses within the community. I know our members will be very disappointed to see him go."

Bellina said in a statement the chamber has had an excellent board and the commitment of Elizabeth Penney, the chamber's director of member services and programs, and the chamber staff and volunteers is second to none.

The chamber covers seven communities: Ashburnham, Barre, Gardner, Hubbardston, Templeton, Westminster and Winchendon.
