As part of the City of Worcester’s plan to build a $90-million minor league baseball stadium, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation plans to completely overhaul Kelley Square, where six streets come together in the Canal District without a traffic light. MassDOT rates the intersection as one of the most dangerous in the state, and it had 294 crashes from 2013-2015 – the latest time period available – including 62 with injuries.
Does Kelley Square in Worcester need to be overhauled?

If you can't drive through Kelley Sq. without an accident or causing a major backup, you can't drive. Maybe they can just pull the licenses from drivers that cause backups and accidents.

The redesign should benefit the neighborhood and enhance small business. It should be elegant and not just a lot of lights and signs. Pedestrian bridges might be useful, overpasses, etc. Expensive, I know.

I avoid it at all costs!

As someone who grew up learning how to drive K Sq, I would miss it but we have to realize the amount of drivers who would be coming into the area and had no idea how to drive through K Sq. The accidents that happen there are mostly non-locals who happen upon the intersection.

New people coming to the ball game via Kelley Sq. in its present condition would be appalled at one of the worst intersections imaginable. The experience could impact the ballpark's popularity as a "go to "

I grew up in Shrewsbury. Kelley square has been a disaster for many years. If the new Pawsox stadium is going to be in the area, Kelley Square MUST be fixed and made safe

This should have been fixed many years ago.

I also agree that the traffic flow ultimately works - a rotary as an example would be a night mare

Redesign only if necessary to accommodate anticipated increase in traffic due to ballpark. Perhaps a different exit could be considered to access the stadium.

p.s. Can't believe this is a serious question. Anyone gets nostalgic and sentimental about Kelley Square, give 'em a dope smack for me.
