Former Sturbridge restaurant owner sentenced for tax evasion

The former owner of a Sturbridge pizzeria and bar will face 200 hours of community service and a two-year suspended jail sentence for avoiding more than $114,000 in state and local meals tax payments.
Theodore Metaxas, 53, of Southbridge, pleaded guilty Friday to willful failure to account and pay over tax and willful delivery of a false tax return. He was sentenced by Suffolk Superior Court judge William Sullivan.
