Old Navy coming to Northborough Crossing

Photo/Google Old Navy is moving into the former Eastern Mountain Sports space at Northborough Crossing in January.

Clothing retailer Old Navy is slated to open at Northborough Crossing in January, just a few months after it opened at Marlborough's Solomon Pond Mall.

The 15,000-square-foot Northborough Crossing location will take the place of a former Eastern Mountain Sports, and is the latest new tenant at the plaza this year. Pottery Barn opened an outlet store at a former Toys "R" Us location, the chain's first location in Central Massachusetts and its first outlet store in Massachusetts. Homesense, another home merchandise chain and a new store from Framingham retail parent company TJX Cos., opened in a former Golfsmith location.

Both new Old Navy openings come amid an expansion for the company despite a challenging market for retailers. Old Navy announced earlier this year it planned 60 new stores in North America by the end of the fiscal 2018 year.

Old Navy already has Central Massachusetts locations at the Shoppes at Blackstone Valley in Millbury, the Mall at Whitney Field in Leominster, Shoppers World in Framingham and the Charles River Center in Bellingham. It also formerly had a store in the Greendale Mall in Worcester.
