Fairlawn Rehab picks new CEO

Anne Roper will take over as CEO of Fairlawn Hospital

An executive for the northeast division of a national healthcare provider has been appointed to be the new CEO of Worcester’s Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital.

Anne Roper, a Northbridge woman and former northeast regional vice president and controller for Alabama-based Encompass Health, will take over leadership of the 110-bed hospital, which is an affiliate of Encompass.

Roper is a former president of Fairlawn’s board of directors and is a member of the Massachusetts Hospital Association.

Roper’s appointment comes after her predecessor, Mary Louise D'Avino, was appointed to the role in August 2017.

The hospital did not detail when D’Avino left or under what circumstances. A spokeswoman would not provide additional information.

That now makes three CEOs in less than two years for the rehab hospital. The hospital's previous CEO, David Richer, left earlier in summer 2017, but a spokeswoman for the hospital could not confirm the reason.
