Syneron-Candela rebrands as ahead of Marlborough HQ move

Courtesy/JLL Candela will move its headquarters to InterLocke, the new name for 251 Locke Drive in Marlborough after a $3-million renovation.

As it prepares its headquarters move to Marlborough, Wayland medical device company Syneron-Candela has rebranded to only Candela.

In an announcement, the company said the new identity reflects the unification of the Syneron and Candela brands.

Last Friday, the announcement coincided with the launch of the company’s new corporate website, candelamedical.com.

"Re-launching the company as Candela and aligning around its brand pillars of science, results and trust, reflects our commitment to Candela's guiding principles of safety, efficacy and reliability,” said CEO Geoffrey Crouse in a prepared statement. “It also reflects our commitment to strengthening the longstanding partnerships of trust Candela has established with physicians, their practices and the patients they treat.”

Separate entities Syneron Medical in Israel and Candela Corp. in Wayland merged in 2010 for $65 million.

Now, Candela is moving its corporate offices to a 50,000-square-foot building in Marlborough. The company said it plans to invest about $6.5 million into the space.

Pursuant to a tax agreement signed with the city, the company will move all 200 of its employees to Marlborough and hire another 100 by June 2022.

That agreement calls for real estate and personal property exemptions of 100 percent in year one, 80 percent in year two, 75 percent in year three, 60 percent in year four, 55 percent in year five, 40 percent in year six and 20 percent in year seven.
