Oxford maker of laser equipment IPG Photonics is planning to expand its global footprint by about 800,000 square feet in 2019, according to a new U.S. Securities and Exchange Commision filing.

A large portion of that expansion is in Oxford, where the manufacturer is planning a 170,000-square-foot office, manufacturing and research building at the company’s headquarters. A 460,000-square-foot parking garage is also planned.

In Marlborough, the company is planning an expansion after purchasing land near its 227,000-square-foot facility for a combined $3.7 million since February 2018.

Marlborough officials have confirmed the company is eyeing an expansion project, but IPG has not yet filed plans.

In the company’s annual report filed last week, IPG Photonics said it currently has 2.3 million square feet of space, but that number is expected to grow to about 3.1 million after 2019 expansion plans are complete.

IPG Photonics said it will expand in Russia, CEO Valentin Gapontsev’s home country, where it operates two facilities totaling 524,000 square feet.
