Massachusetts is one of the country's biggest targets for venture capital deals, but much of that funding goes to firms in cities like Boston and Cambridge. Only 1 percent of venture capital funding in Massachusetts since 2013 made its way to Worcester County, according to the firm PitchBook.

Need more incubator and startup and coworking spaces to attract the businesses. The failure of Tech Sandbox in Hopkinton was a big loss for the region.

Check out Entrepreneurial for ALL in Lowell, we need this in Worcester.

Central Massachusetts is close enough for entrepreneurs to raise funds from Boston and NYC VC,. Unfortunately it is also far enough away to remain outside the Boston and NYC orbits that VCs and Angels participate in. A regional entity might be formed, but unless the group formed provides a compelling draw, Boston/NYC VCs and angels will not add Worcester to their orbit. Venture Forum is the closest thing Worcester has to being an aggregator of Central Massachusetts start ups that VCs/Angels might invest in, but in its current format Venture Forum remains insufficient.
