NHL Chooses Cybex

The National Hockey League (NHL) has named Medway-based Cybex International as the preferred fitness equipment for the league.

Exercise equipment manufactured by Cybex will now be used in each of the NHL's 30 teams at arenas around the U.S. and Canada.

Hockey players on average skate 5 miles per game at speeds of up to 30 miles per hour while carrying about 15 pounds of equipment over an 82-game season, the company said.

Last year the NBC television show "The Biggest Loser" announced it would use Cybex equipment on the show.

Cybex makes a range of strength and cardiovascular equipment. The company lost $15,000 on $29.2 million in sales during the third quarter.

A New York jury recently handed down a $66 million verdict against the company, however, which Cybex officials have vowed to fight.
