World Energy Invests In Cambridge Startup
Worcester's World Energy Solutions is leading an $800,000 round of angel investment in a Cambridge-based energy audit software startup that launched today.
World Energy teamed with a handful of other investors - including two investors who were some of the first to pour money into Zipcar - to support Retroiciency Inc.
Retroficiency has created software that does energy audits on commercial buildings. Traditionally, energy audits are done by inspectors. The new software uses basic building specifications and energy-use data to prioritize retrofit options for commercial buildings.
As part of the investment, World Energy is also launching a new product, named Virtual Energy Audit, using the Retroficiency software.
World Energy is a publicly traded company that, among other functions, runs an energy trading marketplace.
