JetBlue Hints At Worcester Future

Dave Barger, CEO of New York-based airline JetBlue, said yesterday at Logan Airport that MassPort is trying to convince JetBlue to operate some flights out of Worcester Regional Airport.

Media reports on the appearance were confirmed this morning by JetBlue spokeswoman Sharon Jones.

"Jet blue is constantly evaluating many airports and Worcester is one of them," she said.

Jones said that there is no timeline for locating flights in Worcester. The Boston Globe quoted Richard Davey, the state's secretary of transportation, as saying that JetBlue flights from Worcester would not likely happen soon because the airport needs upgrades.

JetBlue recently announced that it planned to increase its Logan Airport flights from 100 to 150 per day.
