Worcester Health Center To Go Electronic Through State Grant

The Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center in Worcester will implement an electronic health record system using a $24,074 grant from MassDevelopment, the quasi-public agency announced.

The grant was one of 10 spread around the state and totaling nearly $250,000. The Worcester health center (formerly known as the Great Brook Valley Community Health Center) was the only one in Central Massachusetts to receive a grant. It will purchase computers and equipment and train more than 300 staff members to use the system over the next two months.

CEO Toni McGuire called the tech upgrade "a critical piece of our strategic plan," and said it will ultimately improve patient care and safety.
