Siemens Gateway Park Move Coming In Sept.

Additional information on Siemens Industry Inc.'s move to Gateway Park was announced this week.
Siemens will move its Metal Technologies business from its current location on Belmont Street to a newly constructed, 38,000-square-foot building at 50 Prescott St., in Worcester Polytechnic Institute's Gateway Park.
Siemens Real Estate has signed a lease with The O'Connell Cos. Inc., which owns the building. The company plans to move operations in September, according to an announcement from Worcester City Manager Michael V. O'Brien's office.
The move is part of a plan to consolidate two of the business's three locations under one roof. Siemens will house 200 of its non-manufacturing employees in its new Gateway Park location, and add 10 jobs over the next two years, according to the press release.
The state first broke the news of Siemens plans in March, when it announced a $2.3-million tax increment financing deal, in addition to an investment tax credit of nearly $253,000.
Gateway Park, located on the Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) campus, is being developed as a center of commerce and research through a partnership between the City of Worcester and WPI.
O'Brien said he's pleased Siemens will keep its metal technologies operations in Worcester.
"In this challenging economic environment, I am grateful to Siemens for choosing Worcester and for working with the Gateway Park team to make the numbers work to get to 'yes'," O'Brien said.
Siemens' Metal Technologies business designs, manufactures and installs high-speed wire rod, bar-in-coil and non-ferrous products, according to the company website. It employs approximately 500.
