Southborough's uTest Acquires Polish Firm

Software testing services firm uTest of Southborough reported that it has acquired a Polish firm in a seven-figure deal.

Apphance, a mobile app quality tools company, was purchased from its parent company Polidea.

According to uTest, it has acquired all intellectual property related to Apphance, and will keep the company's employees.

CEO Doron Reuveni said in May that he hopes to pursue an IPO in 2014.

uTest said it has more than 60,000 professional testers in 190 countries and enables companies to test their apps under real-world conditions across OS, browsers, carriers, devices, locations and other criteria. The combination of uTest and Apphance will make it easier to distribute new versions of apps to testers, enabling mobile developers to see how their apps work on actual mobile devices across carriers and locations.

As a result of the acquisition, Polidea receives cash and equity in uTest. This is the first acquisition activity for either firm.
