2012 40 Under Forty: Debra M. Minor

Minor

VICE PRESIDENT/CREDIT MANAGER, Clinton Savings Bank

Company location: Clinton

Residence: Auburn

Favorite movie: "Back to the Future"

Career highlights: I started my banking career in 1993 as a part-time teller, eventually progressing to my current role as vice president, credit manager. Upon arrival at CSB I implemented an electronic filing system for all commercial files, allowing more user-friendly access of loan-related information.

Community involvement: I am a member of the Nashoba Chamber of Commerce. I am also involved with the Wheat Angel and FCCM white gift service, which provide Christmas gifts to less privileged children. I also prepare and serve food monthly at the Wheat Community Café. I recently helped build a community vegetable garden with Growing Places Garden Project at Clinton Senior Center.

Biggest success: One of my most personally gratifying accomplishments was graduating from Nichols College summa cum laude and being awarded the Zeta Alpha Phi Trophy for Excellence in Accounting in 2003, then earning my master's in accounting and finance in with honors. I also consider my current position to be my biggest career success.

Biggest challenge: Choosing a non-traditional plan to continue education first at night and then online, while working full time, was amazingly more difficult than anticipated. The prolonged time frame of seven years to earn a bachelor's degree and another four years to earn a master's degree seemed an eternity.

Mentors: At each of the four different banks I have been employed at, there has been at least one person who has left a lasting impression, both positively and negatively. They have provided the key elements to what has become my management style, while shaping my work ethic and quality standards.

Hidden talent: Mountain biking, rock climbing, whitewater rafting and skydiving. However, now that I'm a happily married mom of two little boys, I've cut way back on the daredevil extracurricular activities.
