Career highlights: I doubled my practice during the recession. While some people were leaving the business, I worked even harder at keeping in close contact with my clients and staying on top of what options were available to reach their goals. Last year I passed the Certified Financial Planner exam, which was really exciting, because it's a 10-hour exam with only a 50-percent pass rate.

Community involvement: I serve on the board of directors for the Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts and am working with two other women to build a young alumnae chapter of past Girl Scouts ages 18-39.

Biggest success: I have credentials that I am proud of, a job that I am passionate about and dynamic clients with whom I love working. I have an incredible fiancé who keeps me laughing, and together we have a beautiful home and an exciting future. I have my health, loyal friends, loving family and great neighbors. I'm truly blessed and thank God for it.

Biggest challenge: Only 15 percent of financial advisors in the U.S. are female. Over eight years ago, I started in a male-dominated industry. I could feel people second-guess my ability as a 24- year-old woman. I even considered getting non-prescription glasses to make myself look older.

Mentors: Howard Gerrin, a senior advisor with whom I used to work, taught me to be analytical, creative and thorough when choosing investments, and to always examine the options from the client's perspective. His honesty, integrity and intelligence encouraged me and still do.

Hidden talents: I completed the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco in 2007. I have won a couple of 5Ks in New England and completed a Tough Mudder in 2011 — with a broken arm. Finally, while I wouldn't say it's a talent, I have taken salsa dancing lessons on three different continents.
