Westborough-based electronic health records company eClinicalWorks announced that it has received a contract to provide a system for First Choice Health Centers of Hartford, Conn.
First Choice Health Centers is a nonprofit community health center with six locations and is the 450th center to which eClinicalWorks has provided services. According to the National Association of Community Health Centers, there are 1,200 of the federally-funded health centers in the country. They are designed to provide care to patients with financial difficulty.
According to eClincialWorks, community health centers are able to streamline processes between multiple locations, thanks to its product. The EHR helps providers utilize provisions of the HITECH Act, which allows Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to provide a reimbursement incentive for providers who demonstrate the meaningful use of an EHR.
The company also announced that it has been certified by the National Center for Quality Assurance (NCQA) as a CAHPS Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Survey Vendor to conduct Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) Surveys.
NCQA ensures standardization of data collection so that results from consumer experiences are comparable across practices, eClinicalWorks said. To be a survey vendor, an organization needs to demonstrate that it has the capabilities, experience and personnel to accurately administer the survey.
eClinicalWorks CEO and co-founder Girish Navani said many of the company's customers are PRMH and surveys play a large role in helping them improve patient experiences.
