MARC BERGERON was promoted to director of the Worcester VHB Massachusetts Natural Sciences Group. He was previously a senior wetland scientist and senior project manager. He earned a bachelor's degree in environmental science from Springfield College.

DR. TALAL BOU-HARB and DR. NICHOLAS FILLIPON were hired by Harrington HealthCare System to work in its Spencer office and will begin their new posts in January. Both physicians, board certified in internal medicine, have established practices in Spencer. Dr. Bou-Harb earned his medical degree at St. Joseph University Faculty of Medicine in Beirut, Lebanon. He completed his residency and an internship at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester. Dr. Fillipon earned his medical degree at University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, and also completed his residency at Saint Vincent.

WILLIAM F. RIVERS was hired as vice president of enterprise risk management at GFA Federal Credit Union in Gardner. He most recently worked at Members Plus Credit Union in Medford as vice president of retail and IT operations. He was also vice president of operations at MASSBANK in Reading and senior vice president of operations and administration at Medford Bank in Medford. Rivers holds a bachelor's degree from Northeastern University and an MBA from Bentley University.

ALLISON LANE was hired by Worcester-based law firm DarrowEverett, as an attorney. She concentrates her practice in real estate, financing and business law. She previously worked at Shechtman Halperin Savage in Pawtucket, R.I. She is a graduate of Smith College in Northampton and Suffolk University.

DR. SHWETHA ADHIKARI was hired by Worcester-based Reliant Medical Group to practice in its department of internal medicine at Reliant's site in Webster. Dr. Adhikari received her medical degree from Maharashtra University of Health Sciences in Mumbai, India. She then completed her internship at Unity Health System in Rochester, N.Y., and her residency at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham. Dr. Adhikari is a board candidate for the American Board of Internal Medicine.

MICHAEL S. MELVILLE was hired as an attorney at Worcester-based insurance defense trial practice firm Hassett & Donnelly PC. He specializes in civil litigation, premises liability, appellate law and insurance coverage. Melville graduated from Clark University with a bachelor's in economics and has a law degree from Boston College.

TRACY GRANT was promoted to executive director of Gardner-based GAAMHA, which serves people with developmental disabilities and substance abuse problems. She replaces Sybil Arguijo, who was president and CEO for 22 years. Grant first joined GAAMHA in 1993. The Gardner resident holds a bachelor's degree from Emmanuel College in Boston and a master's from Norwich University in Northfield, Vt., both in business administration.

ANDREW T. BRANDMAN, KEVIN D. CHERRY, DANIEL O. HIRSCH and PAUL SALTZMAN were named to the Clark University Board of Trustees. Brandman is executive vice president and chief administrative officer for CIT in New York. Cherry is chief financial officer of South End Community Health Center in Boston. Hirsch is chief operating officer and general counsel at Potomac River Capital LLC in Washington, D.C. Saltzman is president of The Clearing House Association and executive vice president and general counsel for The Clearing House Payments Co. in New York. All four hold bachelor's degrees from Clark.

TOM CONOPHY was hired as executive vice president and chief information officer by Framingham-based office supply company Staples. Conophy most recently served as executive vice president and chief information officer for InterContinental Hotels Group. Before that, he held a similar position at Starwood Hotels & Resorts International.

GERALD L. BURNS JR. was named executive vice president and general manager of Columbia Tech and DCI Engineering Services of Worcester-based Coghlin Cos., an engineering and contract manufacturing company. Burns had previously served as an executive consultant to the company. Prior to joining the Coghlin Cos., Burns served as president and CEO of Data2Logistics LLC.

JOHN LAWLOR was hired and JOANNE BITTLE promoted by Framingham-based CommCreative, a marketing agency. Lawlor, who is chief operating officer, was a principal for Practical Decisions, a consulting firm for organizational growth and other business issues. He also served as vice president of strategic development for Liberty Mutual's property division. Bittle is vice president of strategy. A member of CommCreative's team for eight years, she is a graduate of Rowan University in Glassboro, N.J.

FRANCISCO A. VENTURA was elected president of the New England Club Managers Association. He is club manager of Oak Hill Country Club in Fitchburg.

ANDREW BOUCHER was named chair of the board of directors for Gardner-based GVNA HealthCare. He has been a member of the board of directors since 2010, and is president of Boucher Funeral Home Inc.
