Nichols receives $1M donation
Nichols College has received a $1 million donation commitment from its chairman of the board of trustees.
In a statement, the Dudley-based school said John H. McClutchy, a 1972 graduate, and his wife, Janet, donated the funds, with part of the gift being a challenge to engage new and existing donors. McClutchy is president of real estate development, finance and renewable energy firm JHM Group, of Stamford, Conn.
In announcing the commitment, Nichols President Susan West Engelkemeyer praised McClutchy, saying, “As chairman of our board, John is dedicated to seeing Nichols reach its full potential, and this generous gift is further evidence of his commitment to making that happen.”
McCluthy’s gift comes a year after Nichols received an anonymous donation of $5 million. The school is working to determine a specific target for the funding but said both gifts will be used to achieve strategic initiatives outlined by Engelkemeyer.
