Westborough TV buys historic building from Avidia Bank

After six years in its West Main Street location, Avidia Bank has sold the historic Westborough building to Westborough TV, which offers local public access programming to the town, the companies announced in a joint statement.

The sale of the building for $240,000 was precipitated by Avidia’s consolidation of its two Westborough operations into a single full-service branch. Avidia acquired the West Main Street site as part of the 2007 merger between Hudson Savings Bank and Westborough Savings Bank that formed the new company.

“The Avidia Bank Building in downtown Westborough is the perfect location for Westborough TV,” Bill Linnane, Westborough TV board president, said in a statement. “We will now be a visible and accessible part of the community within walking distance to many of our strategic partners including businesses, town government and the schools.”

Westborough TV will begin renovations and plans to move into the building in July, said Karen Henderson, Westborough TV general manager.
