Higgins Armory Museum to auction remaining items

Five months after closing its doors and putting the building up for sale, the Higgins Armory Museum said it will host a public liquidation auction of some of its remaining assets in two weeks.
The June 14 auction, which will be managed by Southborough-based Bottom Line Exchange Co., Inc., is what the museum said is a “a final step in the process to transition the building to a future owner.”
While the Higgins’ roughly 2,000-piece collection has been moved to the Worcester Art Museum, non-collection items that will be up for bid include candelabras, antique furniture, replica suits of armor, period costumes, as well as the museum’s office equipment, displays materials and more.
“Obviously the most prized pieces in our museum have found a new home,” said Suzanne Maas, interim director at the Higgins. Of the items that will be auctioned, “some are related to arms and armor, while others are simply practical pieces that may be put to good use elsewhere.”
