World Energy wins GSA contract

Energy management services firm World Energy Solutions of Worcester has landed a federal contract to buy close to 300 kilowatt hours of electricity throughout government properties in New Jersey, the company announced Thursday.

World Energy’s contract with the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) is expected to save the government about $2.2 million a year in energy costs, the company said, and will require it to include 10 percent of the power from renewable energy sources such as solar and wind.

According to the company, which did not release financial details of the deal, the contract will range from two to three years.
