Weather worries push back Worcester '4th' celebration

If you were planning to make the trip into the city or open your shop Thursday for the extra foot traffic brought in by the lure of fireworks, you have couple of extra days. Worcester’s Independence Day celebration has been rescheduled to Saturday due to the forecast of stormy weather this week, the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce said.
The events will still take place at East Park, which will open at 6 p.m. with spectators encouraged to grab spots early for pre-festivities, according to a statement from the chamber.
“This event brings more than 30,000 people into the city of Worcester, giving a boost to area businesses and showcasing all that Worcester has to offer,” said Timothy Murray, president and CEO in a statement. “We look forward to partnering with the city of Worcester on this event each year.”
The fireworks and concert celebration, part of Charter Communications’ ”Summer Concert Series,” is coordinated by the chamber, the city and the Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra.
