Siemens to supply equipment for Dubai firm

Siemens Metals Technologies, which has operations in Worcester, has received an order from a Georgia firm to supply an aluminum rod system for a wire and cable manufacturer in the Middle Eastern emirate of Dubai, the company announced.
Siemens, which is based in Germany, will be responsible for engineering, manufacturing and commissioning equipment for a rolling mill manufactured by Southwire Co. of Carrollton, Ga. The work on the equipment originated at Siemens’ Worcester facility, according to a spokesperson for Siemens. The buyer is Dubai Cable Co., a privately held firm.
The new mill will be located in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, which includes Dubai.
The value of the deal was not disclosed.
