The Federated Cos., a national real estate investment group with offices in Boston and Miami, has purchased the property on Worcester’s Cambridge Street that includes a Price Chopper supermarket.

The purchase price was $16 million, according to a statement from CBRE/New England, which helped broker the deal.

The sale of the 69,000-square-foot grocery store property and the surrounding 10.5-acre parcel located at 50 Cambridge St. closed Tuesday, according to deed records.

“The Federated Companies gains long-term stability from an urban asset occupied by one of New England’s strongest grocery operators,” said CBRE/New England, which represented the seller, PC Worcester, a Delaware-based limited partnership with offices in Canada.

The supermarket was opened in 2003, according to CRBE/NE, and serves as one of five Price Chopper stores in the city, and 11 throughout Central Massachusetts. Price Chopper operates more than 130 locations in Massachusetts, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.
