Ex-Worcester Sam's Club site sold for $3.2M

The former site of the Worcester Sam’s Club store has been sold for $3.2 million, according to Worcester real estate broker Glickman Kovago & Co., which represented the buyer, The Aster Group, also of Worcester.

The Sam’s Club has been located at the site at 301 Barber Ave., and moved last year to the southern part of the city, on Tobias Boland Way next to the southbound side of Route 146.

The Barber Avenue building, now home to Charter Communications, contains more than 100,000 square feet of space. Charter is moving more than 275 employees to the site in phases, according to Heidi Vandenbrouck, a spokeswoman for Charter. The warehouse team is already working at the site and will be followed by technical and support operations, she said, adding that the entire group will be in the building by the end of the year.

The property’s seller was DDR Southeast Barber LLC.

Charter's customers will continue to be served from its current location less than two miles away, at 95 Higgins St. in Worcester, which will continue to house the Charter TV3 studio, the company said earlier this year.
