United Way sets Sept. 10 as annual Day of Caring

More than 1,200 volunteers will engage in community service projects in the Greater Worcester area Wednesday, Sept. 10 as the United Way of Central Massachusetts holds its 21st annual Day of Caring.

Each year, volunteers from corporations, unions and colleges don “Live United” t-shirt and take on community service projects throughout central Massachusetts. The event is focused on one-day projects that include restoration and repair; preservation and beautification; gardening or neighborhood cleanup; and recreation and social events.

The Day of Caring is the largest one-day volunteer drive of its kind in the entire region, according to United Way of Central Massachusetts, serving nearly 100 local nonprofits. Individual and group volunteers can sign up for the event online, on the United Way of Central Massachusetts Web site.
