Third-quarter revenue and earnings for JetBlue Airways Corp., the only commercial passenger airline that flies out of Worcester, were up for the quarter thanks in part to fuller flights, the airline reported Thursday.

The airline reported that net profit rose for the quarter to $79 million, or 24 cents per share compared to $71 million, or 21 cents per share, a year earlier.

Operating revenues also rose for the quarter by 6 percent to $1.53 billion, JetBlue reported.

JetBlue's load factor, a key indicator of capacity for the industry, rose to 86.2 percent from 85 percent, the company said. Meanwhile, its passenger revenue per seat mile – another important financial indicator in the airline industry – grew 2.4 percent for the third quarter, according to JetBlue.
