WHEN ALL SELL BREAKS LOOSE, SOME SHOPPERS STAY HOME

The National Retail Federation said in-store holiday shopping from Thanksgiving to the following Sunday was down more than 5 percent from 2013. Was it skittishness on the part of some shoppers to avoid the tight spaces crowds can create at stores and shopping malls? We posed the question to our LinkedIn group on their plans for Black Friday (Nov. 28), and no one was all that excited about being part of the crowds.

“I will avoid the hordes. I want no part of that.”

LinkedIn group member Marvin Silver

“I will avoid. Always have. Why break my tradition now?”

LinkedIn group member Christina Wojtowicz

“100 percent online shopping for me. Cyber Monday baby.”

LinkedIn group member Jim Pond

“I have worked retail on occasion so (I) have been part of the mess from that perspective, but would much prefer to steer clear if at all possible.”

LinkedIn group member Greg Aldrich
