State fines Veryfine for alleged violations in Littleton

The Patrick administration has slapped beverage manufacturer Veryfine with a fine of more than $9,000 for allegedly violating regulations regarding air pollution control, hazardous waste, industrial wastewater and an underground storage tank at its Littleton facility, according to the Massachusetts Dept. of Environmental Protection.

Veryfine, which makes non-carbonated juices and water drinks, has been ordered to pay $9,420 after an inspection found that the company failed to provide the agency (MassDEP) adequate information on a series of forms and reports, MassDEP said. The company also accumulated hazardous waste in excess of its registered status, failed to properly label its hazardous waste accumulation containers area and did not comply with numerous requirements governing underground storage tanks, according to a statement from MassDEP.

In a consent order signed with MassDEP, the company agreed to maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and pay the assessed penalty, MassDEP said.

A spokesperson for Veryfine, which is based in Ohio, did not immediately respond to an email request for comment Tuesday morning.
