Kennedy center launches Framingham optometry practice

Vision care services are now available at the Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center (Kennedy CHC) on Union Street in downtown Framingham, the health center announced Tuesday.

In partnership with the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) in Worcester, Kennedy CHC has opened an optometry practice at the site. Students and teachers associated with MCPHS’s doctoral program in optometry will now be available in Framingham to see Kennedy CHC patients.

Patients formerly had to travel to Worcester to receive vision care services at the Kennedy CHC’s flagship medical facility, according to a statement.

“By working collaboratively with MCHPS, our patients in the greater MetroWest area will finally have access to vision care right in their own community, a much needed service in this region,” said Toni G. McGuire, president and CEO of Kennedy CHC.

Kennedy CHC serves about 25,000 patients annually throughout Central Massachusetts and MetroWest.
