Anna Maria launches new grad program

Anna Maria College will offer a new master’s degree program in health emergency management, citing a high demand for the skills to respond to both natural and man-made disasters, the Paxton school said.

The program, which will begin in March, is being conducted with the help of Boston’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, which runs a fellowship in disaster medicine. Anna Maria says the program is the first of its kind, providing health professionals with the leadership, organizational and communications skills to take on “elevated roles” during health emergencies and disaster events.

The program, which will offer a master of science degree, is the colleges’ first “hybrid” program that will combine both online and classroom offerings. The degree is designed for medical graduate students and trained health professionals including physicians, nurses, physician assistants, paramedics and EMTs, the school said in a statement.
