Details set for five-state energy forum

The governors of five New England states will meet in a private working meeting Thursday on regional energy issues but plan to brief the media afterwards at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford.

At the forum, Baker will join Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy, Maine Gov. Paul LePage, Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo, and Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin.

Richard Levitan, president of Levitan & Associates Inc., and Gordon van Welie, president of ISO New England Inc., will speak at the forum, along with state energy officials. The forum will be live-streamed at the Connecticut Network’s website at www.CT-N.com and questions may be submitted on Twitter using @4neenergy.

“Together, the New England governors have a real opportunity to work collaboratively to identify realistic solutions that will strengthen the region’s energy network and lower costs for our families and businesses,” Baker said in a statement. “I look forward to engaging in an open and honest discussion about ways to achieve a balanced approach to strengthen grid reliability and clean energy, while providing cost relief to New England taxpayers.”
