Allstate seeks local agents in Mass. growth plans

Allstate Insurance, which did not do business in Massachusetts for 25 years before returning in 2012, is expanding its Bay State market, and looking to line up a few Central Massachusetts agents and licensed sales professionals as part of those plans.

Allstate, based in Northbrook, Ill., said this week it plans to appoint more than 70 new insurance agents and personal financial representatives across Massachusetts. A company spokeswoman, Julia Reusch, said the company is looking for four agencies and 10 licensed sales professionals in the Worcester area, about half of what it’s seeking west of Interstate 495.

Allstate cited Massachusetts’ “strong economy” as the reason behind its expansion. The insurer said the number of new agencies and professionals it’s seeking would represent a 46-percent expansion in the Bay State. Across New England, it’s seeking to expand its agent base 16 percent.

“We target cities and areas that are growing and have an increased need to protect what matters most to the people in those communities as a part of Allstate’s broader strategy to expand in Massachusetts,” said Ed Norcia, Allstate’s Northeast Region Strategic Deployment Leader, in a statement.

Allstate is seeking agency owners who are mid-career, mid-level managers who want to own and operate their own business.
