Peter Pan, 15-40 roll out anti-cancer bus

Westborough-based nonprofit 15-40 Connection is partnering with Peter Pan Bus Lines in its efforts to promote early cancer detection.

A “wrapped” bus posing the question “Would you recognize a cancer symptom?” will be used on bus routes across the Northeast, 15-40 Connection said in a statement Monday. The outside of the bus features photos and stories of young adult cancer survivors, and is designed to encourage New England commuters to recognize cancer symptoms and detect the disease earlier.

The bus was introduced yesterday at Union Station in Worcester.

“Partnering with Peter Pan Bus Lines is helping drive a new conversation about cancer,” Jim Coghlin, Sr., founder of 15-40 Connection, said in a statement. “Teaching people how to recognize potential cancer symptoms and when to seek medical attention has saved lives. With this bus, we hope it will encourage more people to become aware of their health so more lives can be saved.”

Peter Picknelly, Peter Pan’s chairman and CEO, added: “This bus will drive through many communities and major cities. The early cancer detection message could be encountered during someone’s daily commute or while boarding the bus. That is important and could help save lives."
