Ameresco surpasses second quarter revenue target

Framingham-based Ameresco Inc. reported a revenue rise of 7 percent for the second quarter of 2015. Net earnings were 4 cents per share, lower than the 6 cents of the prior-year quarter, but beating the consensus estimate of 1 cent per share, as reported by Zacks.

The quarter’s revenue, $152 million, “exceeded our target range,” said George P. Sakellaris, president and CEO of the energy efficiency and renewable energy company.

“We continued to build the foundation for future growth,” he said in the company’s statement Thursday. “New project awards were $189 million, up 66 percent from last year and 125 percent from the first quarter.”

The company said its net income was lower despite the higher operating income due to a higher tax rate as a result of a valuation allowance for losses expected in Canada during 2015.

The company reaffirmed its full-year 2015 outlook, expecting to generate revenue in the range of $610 million to $640 million, and net income per diluted share in the range of $0.16 to $0.24.
